On September 28th, the "Sustainable Residential Construction for the Future" Academic Forum of the 1st Residential Architecture Academic Seminar in 2024 and the annual meeting of the Residential Architecture Professional Committee of the Architectural Society of China opened in Xi'an. The School of Architecture of Chang'an University, together with the National Key Laboratory of Green Building and the School of Architecture of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, jointly undertook this conference. The theme of this conference is "The Vision of Life in a Good House in the New Era", and the content includes a series of activities such as joint exhibitions, a main forum, five parallel sub-forums, and project investigation and research. More than 300 academicians, masters, experts, scholars, teachers and students from the national and international architectural academia and industry gathered to jointly exchange and share the latest academic theories, innovative technologies and practical achievements in the field of housing construction and residential architecture.

The Sub-Forum Four of this conference is in the charge of the School of Architecture at Chang'an University. The theme of the forum is "Harmonious and Livable: Innovative Research and Practice on Rural Residence". It is co-chaired by Professor Liu Qibo and Associate Professor Chen Siliang from the School of Architecture at Chang'an University. Professor Hou Quanhua, the dean of the school, delivered the opening speech.
The sub-forum has invited six guest speakers for special reports, including Professor Song Yehao from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University, Xue Feng, a national outstanding engineer and a master architect of China State Construction Group, Fan Zesen, the deputy general manager of China Construction Science & Technology Group Co., Ltd., Professor Dang Yutian, the deputy dean of the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Professor Zhao Jingyuan, the deputy dean of the Academy of Sciences at Chang'an University, and Luo Minjie, the executive general manager of Sichuan Zhejiang Craftsman Urban and Rural Construction Society. In addition, there are three guest speakers for paper presentations, namely Associate Professor Zheng Yuan from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Fuzhou University, Lecturer Tong Qingnan from the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and Dr. Wang Lianzi from the School of Architecture and Design at Harbin Institute of Technology. The participating guests gave wonderful reports from various aspects such as the design of rural living environment, the transformation of rural communities, the construction indicators of rural residence, the spatial form of rural settlements, the rural residence patterns, rural building materials and the practice of rural residence construction.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the holding of the First Academic Seminar on Residential Architecture in 2024 is a vivid demonstration of the achievements in the development of national housing construction. As an institution of higher learning for cultivating professionals in the field of architecture, the School of Architecture at Chang'an University will continue to contribute to the transformation of the construction industry from focusing on large quantity and high speed in the past to pursuing high quality and good service in terms of talent cultivation, scientific research and other aspects, thus promoting the better development of the construction industry.
